At Miniature Dachshunds Australia, we are committed to transparency and fairness in all our transactions. Please read this policy carefully before placing a deposit or purchasing a puppy.
Deposit Policy
Deposit Amount & Purpose
- A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a puppy
- The deposit secures your chosen puppy and removes them from available listings
- Remaining balance is due before pickup or delivery
- Deposit can be transferred to another available puppy within 12 months (one-time only)
When Deposits Are Non-Refundable
- If you change your mind about purchasing the puppy
- If you fail to complete the purchase by the agreed pickup date
- If you cannot provide suitable living arrangements
- If you fail to respond to communication within 7 days of pickup date
Important Note
Deposits are non-refundable because when you reserve a puppy, we turn away other potential buyers and invest time and resources preparing your puppy for their new home.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
Buyer Cancellation
- Before Pickup: Deposit is forfeited, no refund
- After Pickup: No refunds on purchase price
- Emergency Transfer: We will assist in rehoming (fees apply)
Breeder Cancellation
- Puppy Health Issues: Full refund of deposit and payments
- Breeding Complications: Full refund or choice of future puppy
- Any Breeder Fault: Full refund guaranteed
Return Policy
When Returns Are Accepted
We accept returns only in the following circumstances:
- Within 72 Hours: If a licensed veterinarian finds a pre-existing serious health condition that was not disclosed (full refund minus transport costs)
- Genetic Health Issues: Covered under our 2-year health guarantee (see Health Guarantee page)
- Misrepresentation: If the puppy significantly differs from what was described (breed, gender, etc.)
When Returns Are NOT Accepted
- Change of mind or personal circumstances
- Minor cosmetic variations (color, markings, size)
- Normal puppy behavior (crying, toilet training, teething)
- Allergies discovered after purchase
- Housing restrictions discovered after purchase
Lifetime Return Policy
If at ANY point in your dog's life you can no longer care for them, we will always take them back regardless of age or reason. This ensures no puppy we breed ever ends up in a shelter.
Note: No refund is provided for lifetime returns, but we will find them a new loving home.

Transport & Delivery
Transport fees are separate from puppy purchase price and are non-refundable once travel arrangements are confirmed, except in cases of breeder cancellation.
- Transport costs range from $200-$500 depending on location
- Buyer is responsible for transport costs unless breeder cancels
- Transport must be paid in full before puppy departure
Special Circumstances
We understand that life circumstances can change unexpectedly. If you are facing genuine hardship (medical emergency, family crisis, etc.), please contact us immediately. We will work with you to find a solution that is fair to both parties.
How to Request a Refund
If you believe you qualify for a refund under this policy:
- Step 1: Contact us immediately via phone or email
- Step 2: Provide detailed explanation and supporting documentation
- Step 3: For health issues, obtain written veterinary diagnosis
- Step 4: We will review your case within 48 hours
- Step 5: If approved, refund will be processed to original payment method
